ABOUT THE ROLE

The Associate role at RCC is a dynamic and exciting opportunity for someone launching a career in the nonprofit or public sector. With support and coaching from  RCC leadership and staff, the Associate will work across a diverse portfolio of programs and projects that cover a host of challenges facing cities and communities across the world. 

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in urban issues, a desire to learn, and personal goal of helping governments and the communities they serve create dynamic places that work today and thrive in the future. 

Initial responsibilities include but are not limited to:

OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPORT – 40%

  • Provide programmatic support to RCC staff and leadership team including, but not limited to, managing internal and external meetings, preparing briefing notes, presentations and written communications;

  • Assist RCC leadership team and staff with preparing, creating, and customizing materials as needed for programs and engagements, general outreach, meeting scheduling, documentation as well as follow-up, presentations, and other tasks as required;

  • Co-lead data and impact tracking for specific RCC programs and engagements.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT SUPPORT – 40%

  • Coordinate across RCC to improve communications and support efforts to maintain consistent program and project implementation;

  • Support team with core activities such as researching, setting agendas, taking notes and organizing plans for priority work stream development and execution, planning and delivery of workshops and other on-site engagements, partner engagements and financing;

  • Assist in the preparation of performance management reports/coordination and tracking of key team tasks and deliverables.

COMMUNICATIONS & LEARNING – 20%

  • Conduct research on current and potential partners and help to build communications assets for the organization; work across RCC to document and share knowledge; 

  • Draft program or engagement-specific reports, Powerpoint presentations, collateral and other written materials required as part of program delivery or to advance RCC’s general communications presence;

  • Work across RCC to document and share learnings from programs and engagements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher level) in public policy, economics, political science, urban planning, or related field preferred.

  • Strong analytical, communications, writing and research skills.

  • Organization and attention to detail, with experience supporting project management.

  • Extremely proactive with a high degree of aptitude for complexity in scheduling, organizing and managing meetings, following up on and tracking action items across numerous partners.

  • Experience with and curiosity around a broad range of urban issues, which could include impacts from climate change, infrastructure, transportation, housing, and health is preferred.

  • Prior experience working in or with government at any level is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work in a start-up, fast-paced environment. 

  • Candidates who can work in our New York City office three or more days a week will be favorably considered.

  • Salary range: $65,000 - 75,000 based on experience.
