🚩 Please prioritize SME participation for the April 15-19 Enabling Environment Workshop in Merida, MX.

Recommendations due by Monday, March 11.

Sourcing local/international expertise in the following areas:

Small Business / Enterprise Development:

  • Models for small business development and support that i) can be established by municipalities and/or ii) self-organized by local small business owners.

  • Training and advisory services for small business owners/operators pertaining to local economic resilience and their own business resilience, including with a focus on climate resilience.

  • Programs and mechanisms to build employment readiness and/or self-employment livelihoods for low-income and/or chronically unemployed local residents.

  • Models and mechanisms to strengthen the economic vitality and resilience of commercial corridors or other business cluster areas (e.g., market areas) at neighborhood, corridor, or district scale.

Urban Land Management:

  • Community-level green space development and improvement, and government-community co-management, including other community-scale environmental asset management (e.g., of riparian corridors, marshes, mangrove areas, etc)

  • Broad land management strategy know-how, including land inventory data, land-use regulation, land reserves/trusts, conservation management, and land value capture.

Neighborhood Development

  • Deploying capital projects that improve corridor and neighborhood resilience to flooding, storm surge, extreme heat, and other climate risks. Advise on implementing a neighborhood level sustainability program

  • Affordable housing development, maintenance, and retention in the context of neighborhood development.

  • “Mini-district” establishment (with associated mechanisms for management, revenue generation) and the development of multi-benefit programs and solutions at this scale to address various community stresses and shocks.

  • Mitigation and management of justice and rights in the context of displacement associated with redevelopment or urban improvement programs, in particular related to informal settlement and other vulnerable residents, and in the context of reflecting international human rights frameworks.
